I am, and always will be. A FOODIE.

Hey, by now you probably already realized that I am no longer updating my food blog. I had been blogging about food on and off since 2009 and now is the time (again) for a temporary halt period. Yes, grad student's life is tough. Especially in NYC it becomes tougher. But one fact remains the same:

I am, and always will be. A FOODIE.

In fact, I often got inspired to do a lot of food-related projects! It's fun and it makes it easier when you're working on something that you love. So anyway, I'm now more active on Instagram instead. (Oh, and my cooking skill actually increased. SIGNIFICANTLY.) Follow me @umieats to see more food pics! Cheers and thank you, readers.

Bye Jakarta, Hello NYC!!

Uhm, hello!

I've bid my farewells almost everywhere and to most of the people that I care about, but it just doesn't feel right until I write something in this blog.

I am leaving Jakarta starting from Wednesday July 16th, 2014 and will be heading to set a new life in the Big Apple. Yes, America! It took me 4.5 years to have the courage to break out of my comfort zone and finally achieve what initially became a long-life dream of mine. A dream so big that it takes years and years of preparation, hard work, and rollercoaster journey of finding passion. A dream, SO big that you are surrounded by constant fears of not getting anywhere with your life because you keep looking up onto other's. That is, until you encounter a certain point in your life where it just feels like, "OK, THIS IS IT. I CAN DO THIS. LET'S DO THIS!"

So here I am, drafting this post at the altitude of 32500 feet above land, six hours to go to JFK International Airport and have absolutely nothing to do and got stuck playing Disney Frozen: Free Fall. Few weeks from now I might be struggling as a MFA DT (Design & Technology) grad student at Parsons The New School of Design. But as far as I'm concerned, I will not stop blogging about food and that's a promise!

New city, new routines, new experiences. It's like hitting that 'RESET' button in your life, except that you're glad you left quite a legacy back at your home country, and realized that those friends are valuable assets for your entire life.

Thank you for reading :) Please, if you have any recommendations, foodie wish lists, food trucks must-try, anything, really; let me know!

HI, I’M A FOODBLOGGER. HERE’S MY NAME CARD.

The thought of having a so-called Food-Blogger name card has never crossed my mind until recently. I’ve been wanting to (because it’s kinda cool you know, LOL), but afraid I was getting over-confident while I know I don’t write as much & as often. Moreover with the ongoing debacles on social media (mostly Twitter), on how food-blogger ethics or code conduct should be, I was getting quite hesitant to self-proclaim myself as one. It’s a never ending conversation that, ...

I DID IT! World Street Food Congress 2013, Here I Come!

On Tuesday, I was having a regular Lync concall at the office when my phone kept ringing for about 4 times from 021-xxxxxxx. I was nearly like, "Okay this shouldn't be just another credit card phone scam, this might be somewhat important". And so my boss told me to pick up the phone; so I paused our meeting and I answered.

New Look. New Domain. Let's Start Over!

So apparently thanks to Twitter - for closing my beloved blogging platform, Posterous - that I had to migrate to a new site. The choices were only two, and I think I've just had enough of WordPress and the whole painful process of setting up hosting + domain + theme customization on my own. That's where Squarespace came to the rescue. After one week playing around during trial, I decided to give it a try & hit that UPGRADE button, because I just can't give up all the beauty & simplicity it offers.
